The spa is a closed-in space where people are allowed to smoke, and the air conditioning is usually off. Whenever I went to train, I had to ask them to turn it on, and about 90% of the time I was told it was “broken.” One night I lost track of the time and was still swimming at 11 when the lights suddenly went out. I yelled for help, but the staff member, Söner, just yelled back that it was 11 and the lights were being switched off. I asked for five minutes to get my things and shower, but he wouldn't listen and told me to take any complaint to reception. I went there wet, wearing only my swimming shorts. He followed and repeated himself, then wouldn't let me speak to the receptionist. When he finally left, the receptionist apologized. I went back downstairs and could barely see well enough to gather my things in the dark. I asked reception for the manager's office number or extension, but they didn't have it. I left my number and hoped someone would call so I could explain what happened. Nobody did. Two days later I called reception, and they said they couldn't give me the manager's number or have him call, and asked me to tell the story again. It felt like the incident had simply been forgotten. The way this was handled felt unprofessional. People smoke in areas that are supposed to be non-smoking, and switching off the pool lights without checking whether anyone is still in the water is a safety risk that could make someone panic. They also promised a callback and never followed up.
