Olenda Cappadocia Hotel

The location in Uchisar is okay, with the castle and a few souvenir shops nearby. The rooms were fine, the staff supportive, and room service was good. Breakfast, though, wasn’t really worth it. There’s no buffet, and you have to wait for the food.

This was the worst travel experience I’ve ever had. Before we arrived, the host kept messaging to push a private day tour. When I didn’t respond right away, they kept asking why I hadn’t replied in a very unfriendly way, which put unnecessary pressure on us. They continued pushing the tour when we arrived. A woman, possibly the host’s spouse, stood nearby staring at us silently with a hostile look. We felt uncomfortable and unwelcome. We then found out that Nessa Cave Hotel was no longer at the location we had booked. The host had moved us to a different hotel under construction in a more remote area, without telling us or getting our consent. Calling this an “upgrade” didn’t make it acceptable, and it misrepresented the accommodation we booked through Agoda. We were told an extra breakfast was included, but at checkout they said it wasn’t free because of a “communication error” and charged us 500 TRY per person. The breakfast was very poor, just basic bread, one egg, and a little cheese, nowhere near worth that high price. We also booked an ATV day tour through the host at 40 EUR per ATV. Five of us rented four ATVs, so we expected to pay 160 EUR, but they charged us 200 EUR without explaining the difference.

We paid for the room, but at 4pm we still couldn’t get in because the previous guest hadn’t checked out. They told us to walk around a bit and come back. There was only room for two cars where they said the parking lot was, and we couldn’t get in. Nobody apologized, so we had to find another hotel, and we’re still waiting for our money back. Their communication and hospitality were terrible. We definitely don’t recommend it, stay away.

The tour packages they offer were okay, but the rest of our stay was disappointing. Breakfast was the same every day, and the host could have handled customers better. There were lots of communication mix-ups, and the hotel advertises its location falsely on Airbnb as being in Goreme. We only found out when we arrived, which completely changed our planned itinerary that day. This is not a five-star hotel.
