Mustafa Cappadocia Resort

There’s plenty of room to relax or read around this enormous hotel, and the grounds are beautiful. The area felt safe and secure, and there’s a stable with horses next door. We enjoyed our stay. Our room was a good size for two adults, with comfortable beds, strong water pressure, and enough towels, toilet paper, and toiletries. I also liked being able to open the window for fresh air. As part of a small group tour in Turkey, we found the resort set up for groups, which is good to know. It has a full spa and two pools, which we didn’t use, but they looked clean and well maintained. Meals are buffet style, with long tables where you sit with your group. My only drawback was having to pay for bottled water with meals. There was a large pitcher of water if you looked for it, but it wasn’t near the tables, which was annoying. Maybe pitchers could be put on the tables. Aside from that, food options were substantial, with fish, meat, chicken, and vegetarian choices, plus plenty of sides, salads, soup, and desserts. There were local dishes and other cuisines such as Asian options at breakfast and dinner. The meals were huge and very good. The restaurant was clean both at the tables and around the food, and all the staff were very nice.

The location was good, but the rest was very poor. There was water beside our reserved table in the morning, and no staff member would clean it, so it was left there. I don’t understand how this is rated a five-star resort, and I wouldn’t recommend it. Everything in the hotel still feels like it’s from the early 2000s. An unfortunate experience.

The food was tasty and very good, and the staff were helpful and nice. The rooms were clean. The one downside is that there are no balconies.

The hotel itself was lovely, with a spacious room, a nice buffet with lots of choices, and kind service. But I was upset to see how neglected the horses were. I’ve attached three photos showing them skin and bones, clearly underweight. I visited in September 2024 and would be surprised if they’re still alive. It was hot, and there was no food or water available. They were eating gravel, and their lips were dry. Their treatment surprised me because Cappadocia is known for its horses. I think guests would gladly pay for grain to feed them if the hotel advertised it, and then the horses would be fed.
