Bryela Hotel Urla

Mr. Deniz was friendly and attentive, and his knowledge of the area meant his recommendations were right on the mark. We had a great two day break in that beautiful garden. It seems like a lovely choice if you want to wake up to Izmir’s gentle breeze and birdsong. Hope everyone who visits has as nice a holiday as we did…

Deniz Bey and Ümide abla were wonderful and made us feel at home, helping us from the very first day. The best part was breakfast ;) Our 4 day stay at Bryela Hotel was lovely, with great rooms, a pool, and olive trees in the garden.

The hotel’s biggest plus is how close it is to so much. The owner, Mr. Deniz, knows the area well and can point you toward places that fit what you’re looking for. Around the hotel are bays and beaches, horse farms, a botanical garden, olive oil producers, museums, wineries, and, surprisingly, quite a few Michelin listed restaurants. Urla offers more than sun and swimming, with lots to discover. You can also stay put and unwind by the historic olive trees, cool off in the pool, and listen to the leaves and crickets. This boutique hotel is a great base for exploring the region, and our stay nourished both our stomachs and our souls.

The peaceful atmosphere and setting were lovely, and I’m grateful to Deniz Bey for his attention, conversation, and recommendations. Still, we weren’t satisfied with the service, and the stay felt more like an AirNB than a hotel. My wife had planned it as an anniversary surprise, and I’d hoped to enjoy the pool, breakfast, and quiet garden. On arrival, we were told the pool was filthy and couldn’t be used. As we were the last guests of the season, I assumed it probably hadn’t been cleaned. Breakfast was below average too.
