We went to Teruar Urla for a birthday celebration, not for an overnight stay. Just like two years ago, everything was impeccable, and the food was even more refined this time. The quiet, beautiful setting and attentive service were lovely, as were the carefully chosen chinaware and glassware. Above all, the ingredients and the skill of master chef and patron Osman make this restaurant well worth an extended detour. Teruar is a real showcase for Aegean cooking in Türkiye. We’ll certainly return, and wish them continued success.

Teruar Urla has never disappointed me when I’ve come to Turkey for dinner, and this stay with my husband and my parents made it even more special. My parents booked their own second room. As always, dinner was exceptional, with thoughtful details in the atmosphere, service, and flavors. The next morning’s Turkish family-style breakfast was simple but exquisite, made with fresh, high-quality ingredients and served in a serene setting. It’s unusual to find a place that brings together such good food and an emotional connection, but Teruar does.

The meal ended in playful style, with a honeycomb-inspired ice cream cone topped with bee pollen made tableside, followed by petits fours like dark chocolate bites and a frothy cocktail somewhere between a drink and dessert. Teruar feels rooted in its setting too, with a serene garden, olive trees moving in the Urla breeze, and softly lit tables under the evening sky. The service was warm, precise, and deeply knowledgeable. Before dessert, the wines paired naturally with the food, bringing local grapes like Bornova Misketi and Narince alongside international styles. Kavaklıdere Tatlı Sert Narince 2012 was a revelation with the sweeter courses, honeyed but balanced. Earlier, there were richer flavors in the duck breast with beetroot foam, paired with bold, soulful Heraki Patkara. A sculptural pasta spiral in silky sauce came with Yaban Kolektif “Göğe Bakalım” 2023, an old-vine Gök white with elegance and minerality. The shrimp arrived under a glass dome of smoke, its aromas unfolding at the table beside Umurbey Sauvignon Blanc 2023, whose citrus notes offset the smoky depth. Sea bass crudo in pink tomato consommé was matched with crisp, bright local Karnas Vermentino 2024. The opening bites were just as imaginative: a green olive orb that melted like liquid sunshine, a delicate little tomato illusion bursting with fresh flavor, and fig-topped baba-like pastries with earthy sweetness. Even the warm, pillowy house-made brioche over grains felt like a nod to farm-to-table abundance. Chef Osman has a gift for transforming traditional Turkish ingredients into dishes that look as striking as they taste. Dining at Teruar is an unforgettable journey through Turkish flavors and world-class gastronomy. The chef is a genius, and the restaurant shows that Turkish gastronomy belongs on the world stage. Here, farm-to-table is a philosophy in every detail. If you want to be wowed, delighted, and transported, Teruar is a must.

The rooms are comfortable and tastefully furnished, and the architecture and interior fit the landscape. We stayed at the hotel and also tried the restaurant, where every tasting-menu course was delicious and creative, drawing on Turkish and Italian cooking. The ingredients were as fresh and sustainable as you could hope for, sourced from the garden and local producers. From the cutlery to the plating, every detail was carefully chosen, and the service was impeccable throughout. Osman and Ezgi have clearly put their hearts into the experience. They’re already operating above one-star standards, and I hope Teruar has a two-star Michelin rating by our next visit.
