Aselia Hotel Trabzon

My family member had a bad experience and thinks he was scammed at reception. He had paid Agoda for one night and arrived with proof, but the hotel said it hadn't received the payment. He had to pay again on the spot to get a room. Afterward, he went back and forth by email with the hotel and Agoda, but never got his money back.

The location is handy for malls, supermarkets, and restaurants, but the stay had a lot of problems. The room was small, and there was a bad smell all the time, especially in the bathroom, which had no ventilation fan. It still smelled unpleasant however clean it was. I asked to change rooms during my three-day booking, but they refused. Their only suggestion was air freshener, which didn't help. The breakfast buffet was very limited and below average. The elevators were old and slow, and with only two in the whole hotel, I could easily wait five minutes or more. I also found socks from the previous guest beside the bed, so the room wasn't clean enough. The door alert was broken and stuck on "request cleaning service." Housekeeping kept knocking several times a day and even came in while I was out, although I told reception on the first day that it was broken and I didn't need cleaning.

The location was ideal, close to shops, cafes, and restaurants, but the room had a sewage-like smell that made it uncomfortable. Strange noises, possibly from plumbing or machinery, kept us awake and made it nearly impossible to rest. The buffet was average at best, and the hot dishes were served cold, as though they'd been left out too long. For what we paid, we expected much better comfort and food.

We came from the USA and had a fantastic time at Aselia Hotel. The staff made the biggest difference, always kind, attentive, and ready to help with a smile. Sevgi especially was the coolest and greatest front office agent I've seen 👏. Their warmth made us feel welcome and well looked after throughout our visit to Trabzon. The food and beverage options and the heating system could use some improvement, but the staff's exceptional service made up for it. Thanks to the Aselia team for making the trip memorable.
