The apartment was roomy, very clean and smelled lovely. It had reliable Wi-Fi, Alexa and a pool you can walk right out to. The staff were friendly, easy to reach and helpful, and the neighbours were nice too. It’s close to the beach and several places to eat, as well as Fort Bennet, where you can walk around, relax and take in the views. I stayed six days and found it peaceful and quiet. There aren’t many apartments, so it didn’t feel at risk of overcrowding under the COVID restrictions. No-touch hand sanitizer was provided at the entrance.

The hosts were very accommodating, and the apartment had plenty of seating, hot water and everything we needed for cooking and laundry. It was spotless, modern and well kept, with lots of space for a one-bedroom place for two. It also felt family friendly and allergy conscious, and the pool was available around the clock. The neighbourhood was quiet and felt safe. Grafton beach is a beautiful five-minute walk away on a sunny day, with minimarts, restaurants and bars nearby. A few things could be better: the kitchen cupboards were dusty, so we washed the dishes before using them. There are no mosquito screens, which can be annoying if you want to air the place out while cooking or using the bathroom, and the gas stove can be tricky to light. We happened to have the property to ourselves, and the beach was empty too, so it may have been low season. I can’t say how noisy it gets when other guests are around. If you get it while it’s empty, it’s definitely worth it, especially for a romantic getaway.

Ms Riccalda, the property manager, was very accommodating, and the Tan Tan Apartment was clean, well maintained and just as advertised. It was a lovely way to spend my birthday weekend, with no complaints at all. A good spot for a romantic escape or some quiet time to reset. Give it a try, you won’t regret it.

We got a comfortable, self-contained apartment in a safe area, with all the basics we needed. The stay was cosy, the price was competitive, and the hosts communicated well and were very accommodating. They also provided a lovely breakfast for free.
