Fish Tobago Guesthouse

I rarely leave a one-star review after traveling to more than 90 countries and staying in hundreds of hotels, but this stay was stressful and poorly handled. The room I booked was listed with a queen bed and an in-room dining table, but the room I got on February 3 had no table, and the air conditioning wasn't working properly. When I brought that up, I was told my booked room was being renovated and was asked to leave. I booked another hotel after being told I'd receive a refund. I got the money back for February 3 to 7, but not for the February 7 to 14 part of the reservation. I do NOT recommend this property based on how this was managed.

It was quiet, with parking available, and Brandon was a very welcoming host. The simple room showed some wear, but it was very clean, and the bed was comfortable.

Brandon was a really good host. There was nice food and a supermarket nearby, and the beach was the best. Nice place.

The one good part of my stay was having Netflix. Otherwise, I was extremely dissatisfied and felt I'd wasted my money. The owner seemed too busy with his other business to show much care, and didn't come by during my stay, even after I reported a bat, or at checkout to see if things were okay. When the bat flew in, he said he wasn't nearby and that I could switch rooms if I wanted. I eventually killed it myself. He also didn't come check in after I messaged him about a serious personal matter that affected other guests, though I apologized. On arrival he asked me to pick between two rooms. I chose the brighter one with the bigger fridge, but it was dusty, as was the outside table and chair. Under the bed was dusty too, with children's hair accessories there, and the pillows smelled like mouth water. My boyfriend's sinuses were aggravated by the dust. The apartment was self-contained but had no dishwashing liquid, sponge, or cloth, so I took liquid from the other vacant room. Ants were in the fridge and running around, so we couldn't leave food out. The toilet wouldn't flush properly, and I had to use the bathroom bin to flush it. The bathroom lights blinked whenever the shower was on. The bed was raised on concrete blocks. I would never stay there again.
