Sherwood Park Apartments

For a quiet break from a busy life, this place was ideal. It has a private, nature-filled setting and a cool rustic feel, and I loved the pool. The housekeeper is a gem, and the owner Nigel is cool too. The rooms could use a little more care, but at $440 a night I still felt it was well worth it. If you're after a posh five-star stay, this isn't the place. For a peaceful retreat, though, it works.

The manager was kind and helpful, and the rates were reasonable. It’s a beautiful, quiet place, but it needs better upkeep. The apartment had a smell, there were no mats, and the bed was two single beds pushed together. There were also large gaps around the door, so the AC escaped.

The quiet setting was pleasant, and the manager was a cool guy. The housekeeper was friendly too. I appreciated the well-equipped kitchen, with non-stick pots and pans, utensils, and basically everything needed to cook. The room smelled like old food, and I don’t think it was being cleaned and sanitized properly between guests. The flooring looked dirty, and there was only one mat, in the bathroom. Mats by the beds would help. The sheets and pillowcases could also use a delicate, lightly scented detergent for a softer feel and fresher smell. In the bathroom, some window glass was missing, so we covered the opening with plastic bags for privacy. The pool needs attention: its filters were dirty, the bottom and handles need repairs, and the water could be cleaner. The place has a lot of potential if these maintenance issues are addressed. One extra note: there are mango trees across from the guesthouse, near the pool. I highly advise against picking the fruit. An old woman may appear and verbally abuse you for taking mangoes that will likely go to waste. There are no signs saying the trees don't belong to Sherwood property, which is unfortunate.

The building is quite old, but it’s very well kept, and the surroundings were clean and serene. The pool was warm and large enough for my group of 20 friends. Nigel and the other staff gave excellent customer service, and everything from booking through departure went smoothly. I’ll definitely visit again.
