The terrace on the third floor was a highlight, with mountain views, planes taking off and landing, a nice breeze, and space to eat outside or stargaze at night. I spent seven nights at the Monte Cristo Inn in July 2017, and the whole stay blew me away. The owner and his wife were exceptionally friendly and hospitable, always doing their best to make sure we were comfortable. The hotel felt brand new, clean, and well cared for, in a convenient, safe area near the airport. The property is gated all around, and the gate can be shut after hours. Entry then requires a key or the provided RFID key. The building, architecture, furnishings, decor, and AC all seemed thoughtfully done to a high standard. My room had comfortable beds, pillows, and sheets, a balcony, a mini fridge, and a TV with plenty of on-demand content. The AC handled the hot days well. The bathroom was fully tiled, with modern, working fixtures, including a good sink, vanity, shower, and toilet. I slept like a baby every night. Breakfast was ready each morning, with fruit, milk, coffee, tea, bagels, toast, cheese, and yogurt. The dining room was relaxing and nicely furnished and lit, whether for breakfast, dinner, or getting some work done. This was easily the best hotel I’ve stayed at in Trinidad. I plan to stay here exclusively on future visits. The owner and his wife treated us first class, and I think you’ll enjoy it too.
