Comfort Inn & Suites Tobago

The staff were friendly and attentive throughout, and my sister got special treatment for her birthday more than once. We had a lovely New Year stay together, my sister, niece, daughter and me. We arrived late, checked in quickly, then had a light dinner at the restaurant. The room was comfortable, though much too cold for me. Breakfast was tasty and had a good range. I liked spending time by the pool, and we also walked the nature trail across the road. On our last evening we had dinner on the rooftop, played pool and relaxed.

I was sorry to leave after three nights. The rooms were immaculate, and the staff in every area were warm and pleasant. Breakfast was available until 10, with a serve-yourself setup. The rooftop pool is spacious and has seating, and there's a large car park. A gas station and quick shop are diagonally across the road. Lunch and dinner at both the terrace and restaurant could be better, though, and the WiFi dropped now and then.

The pool was nice, and Tobago itself is beautiful and well worth visiting. My second stay in paradise was still a week I'd rather forget because of the hotel's service and food. Breakfast is advertised, but people took food away in containers until the trays were empty. They only refilled them about once an hour, so you had to time it right, and hot food was a bonus. When I asked a waitress about the food, she sucked her teeth and slapped down the menu as if I shouldn't have asked. The restaurants were a joke. The set menu was 375 and offered no other choice. I wanted just one dish, but was told I had to pay for the full three courses. The hotel says there's WiFi, but the basic TVs have no internet connection. Calling downstairs could mean ringing three or four times, and getting your request handled was a bonus. We had to call housekeeping repeatedly and didn't get service until day three. The place has potential, but I wouldn't recommend staying here. They need to modernize the hotel, get WiFi into the rooms and make the staff more attentive. They'd need to replace most of the staff too. Just don't stay at Comfort Inn.

The staff were kind and flexible, and they did their best to meet our family's needs. Our room was comfortable and good value. Breakfast was a treat, especially the morning cocoa tea, which was sensational.
