The cleaning really stood out. I couldn’t find a single water mark, and the shared spaces were carefully kept too. The staff took time to explain tourist information and nearby sights, and the service was attentive. Budai Fishing Port and other attractions are a short drive away, with restaurants and sights nearby, so it works well for a short trip around Budai, Chiayi. Inside, the rooms felt warm and comfortable, the beds were made beautifully, and I relaxed as soon as I came in. I’d happily stay here again if I return to Budai and recommend it to friends.

Getting hung up on when calling to ask about prices or special offers feels awful. Is that really necessary?

The price was reasonable and my room was generally clean. On the first floor there was drinking water, biscuits and instant drinks available for guests, which gave the place a youth hostel feel. Sound carried from next door and downstairs, and it woke me in the morning. There were very few sockets, with just one by the bed. For the cost, though, it was pretty good overall. The male housekeeper was polite and nice in person and on the phone. I had asked when booking whether I could leave my luggage there before check-in, and needed to contact the hotel about doing that when I arrived. Unfortunately, the female housekeeper answered. Maybe she was having a bad day, but the call felt extremely rude and unpleasant. She said it wasn’t check-in time and they needed to rest, and that I was disturbing them. It ruined my mood for the trip. I’d never had a hostel operator speak to me like that before. I understand a manager might feel annoyed by guests, but the luggage policy should be explained before check-in, or clearly stated online. Treating tourists this way was awful, and the worst accommodation experience I’ve had this year. I wanted to give one star, but I’m still grateful to the friendly male manager for helping us open the door and unload our luggage. Thank you.

We were given fruit and cookies, and the landlady was hospitable. The rooms were clean and the hot water was strong.
