The rooms have a classic look and are clean, quiet, and surprisingly spacious, with plenty of storage. Staff were friendly and efficient, so checking in and out was easy. The reception stays open 24/7, which is handy if you need to leave early. Guanko Hotel is a classic hotel with comfortable, spacious rooms and great service. It's in a quieter part of Chiayi, about a 10-15 minute walk from the rear of Chiayi station. If you're catching the shuttle bus to Alishan or heading to the livelier part of Chiayi east of the train station, allow another five minutes to cross through the station.

The breakfast was included, with lots to choose from, and was served in a spacious, pleasant room. We stayed two nights in the Premier Suite with my husband for my birthday. From the moment we entered the lobby, the staff made us feel welcome and special, even though we weren't the only guests. Front of house staff Joanne and Sora seemed just as excited about my birthday as we were. They were a real asset to the hotel. Our top floor room impressed us with its size and luxury, more like a 5-star apartment inside a 3-star hotel. The gifts, balloons, and happy birthday messages in the bedroom were truly overwhelming. That same professional, helpful, warm service continued throughout our stay.

I’d happily stay here again. The room was clean and roomy, with two single beds, and breakfast was delicious. The service was great too. There are plenty of places to eat nearby, including some open late, and convenience stores close by where you can buy HSR and train tickets.

The staff made us feel welcome, and the place is kept in good shape. Our room and bathroom were both clean and spacious. It’s centrally located with lots of parking out front, and the price is very reasonable. I’d recommend it to friends and family, and stay again if I’m back in the Chiayi area.

A great choice for families. The staff were attentive, and breakfast came in generous portions and tasted really good. We had an excellent stay overall.
