Her Home Spa Motel Chiayi

We paid 1680 yuan for a weekday stay, breakfast included, so the price felt quite affordable and we booked two nights. The motel was clean, with plenty of room, and the bathtub was big, comfortable, shiny, and looked brand new. It wasn’t a jacuzzi, though. The location worked well too, close to the night market and city center, with a convenience store on the next street. The air conditioning was very cold, but around midnight I could sometimes smell smoke. I’m not sure if it was because all the air conditioners were running at once.

The price didn’t feel very affordable, and housekeeping seemed careless. They left wine bottles under the chaise lounge, and the massage feature in the large bathtub wasn’t working. The staff also forgot to give me an invoice when returning my keys at the refund counter.

The room itself was really nice and large, but the way they handled checkout was baffling. I’d booked until 11 PM and paid an extra 250 to leave at 12. Before noon I took out my key and went downstairs to warm up the car in the garage. It took about four minutes, and I returned the key within five minutes, yet they wanted to charge me for two extra hours, nearly 500. They said it was almost two hours late and even asked if we wanted to go back and rest. I was furious about losing that extra 250 over such a short delay.

The room was spacious and seemed nicely thought out, but smoke hit me as soon as I opened the door and stayed strong through checkout. I’d read reviews about kids playing in the water, but I really wouldn’t recommend bringing children here. I tried opening the window to clear the smell and found the screen was torn.
