Maison de Chine Hotel Chiayi

The location made getting around easy. The night market is about a 10-minute walk, and the railway cultural area with its train exhibits is also around 10 minutes away on foot. Song of the Forest is closer, about five minutes away, and looks lovely lit up at night. The shuttle driver was especially friendly, told us about the area, and even helped us catch the BRT bus. We were really grateful. We also made good use of the facilities. The gym has treadmills, bikes, and strength-training machines, and guests can play chess or Go. Happy hour was a treat too, with delicious braised snacks that felt generous. It was a wonderful stay, with five-star service, and I'd happily recommend the hotel.

The room felt comfortable and spacious despite the hotel being quite old. We had a balcony where we could watch the sunrise, though the bathroom was small and had lots of sewer flies. The free self-service laundry, including a dryer, was a big plus, but with only two washers and two dryers there was a long wait. Check-in and checkout were easy, and the staff were friendly. It's about a 15-minute walk from Chiayi TRA station.

The free laundry room came in handy, and the service was great. Our living area was spacious, with a patio, and the wide sidewalk made it safer to walk away from the motorcycles. The place is aging and the interior is dark, though they provide movable lights. Elevators can take a while when a bus tour arrives, and the bathroom felt cramped with weak ventilation.

The hotel is on the edge of Chiayi City, and the staff were excellent. It worked well for us as foreigners who needed English. The room was a decent size, with two seats and a desk, though I would have liked a small table too. There isn't a closet, just hangers on the walls. The entrance has steps and manual doors, so it's not very accessible, but staff are there to open the doors and help with luggage.
