Royal Chiayi Hotel

YouBike stations right across the street made getting around easy, and the price was reasonable. The room had a window, was clean and spacious, and the Wi-Fi was fast. I found the mattress a little firm, but it was nice to have two kinds of pillows to choose from. Breakfast was limited but fresh, including local Chiayi-style cold noodles. Too bad there was no chicken rice. It was a pleasant stay.

We booked a family room with two full beds for a night before going to Alishan. The hotel looked grand, though a little dated, and was clean. The beds were comfortable and the restaurant food was good, especially the service. We happened to be there during a typhoon, with flood warnings all over Chiayi. Most nearby businesses were closed and the area was largely shut down, so it was a real plus to have food available in the hotel.

After a day out in the humid weather, a hot shower with such good water pressure was lovely. The facilities were excellent, there were nice restaurants nearby, and the staff were courteous and helpful.

“1019-1 BR Suite” was a wonderful room, with an enormous, gorgeous bathroom that was spotless. I even used a bathtub for the first time in all my hotel stays. The bed and couch were both incredibly comfortable, and the room had capsule and instant coffee, lots of tea, bottled water, Coke, and an energy drink. The colorful cups were a nice touch. Check-in and checkout went smoothly, and the English-speaking receptionists answered our basic questions. I’m very detail-oriented and checked even the smallest, most hidden spots for cleanliness. Everything was spotless. The hallway was clean and quiet, the lobby spacious and classy, and the gym, tea room, and chit-chat area were good too. I absolutely loved the hotel. There were minor issues with the parking lot and food, but they were acceptable. I highly recommend booking this particular room.
