Good.

Parking was limited, but the hotel staff helped us out. Since we stayed on a weekday and there were probably fewer people, the soundproofing was acceptable. The room felt bright and comfortable, with a pleasing color scheme. The shower area was a little cramped, and its drain didn’t work well.

The room was spacious, with a big bed, excellent pillows and a wonderful comforter. There was a large window, and the birdsong was lovely. The floor was wood veneer, much nicer than carpet! (。・ω・。)wave♡ The hanger could be taken off and hung on the doorknob, which made me feel safer traveling alone as a woman. The included hairdryer was great. I’d love to know if I can buy the bath and hand towels, they absorbed water incredibly well and felt really snug. The room also came with two bottles of mineral water and big wall-mounted bottles of hand soap, shower gel and shampoo. The air conditioning was already on when I arrived, and the room was nice and cool. Shower temperature and showerhead were perfect, with strong water pressure. The toilet had a heated seat and flushed automatically when the lid closed. There were lots of TV channels, and I could watch some movies and use YouTube. While Pikmin was in Chiayi, I booked a room using the Chiayi Travel Agency’s NT$1,000 subsidy and paid only NT$800. The only downside was that it was a bit far from the train station. Everything else was great!

The hotel thoughtfully left a small cake for the person checking in for a birthday celebration. Thanks to the manager and staff! The room was a decent size, though the air conditioning was incredibly strong when I walked in, so I had to adjust it to avoid catching a cold. The bathroom was spacious, with separate shower and toilet areas, hot enough water and a strong shower jet. That matters to me since water pressure can be unpredictable in many hotels. My only complaint was the bidet toilet. It flushed before I’d finished using it, which might be a hygiene concern for women. I wish the water flow were slower.

The fresh decor looks great, though fire safety seems to have received less attention. I have a few concerns and suggestions. The renovation must have cost a lot, yet the existing detectors and fire control panel appear unchanged. Were the fire systems inspected before the trial opening? There’s no emergency lighting in the rooms despite all the outlets, and the emergency exit doors are left open with no exit signs. Extinguishers should be available on every floor, not only in the stairwell, and the evacuation maps in the rooms don’t show firefighting or escape equipment. The central atrium could act like a chimney during a fire. Smoke curtains in the corridors on each floor might help contain smoke and let detectors pick it up sooner. The entrance tiles also get very slippery when wet, so watch your step. A few other things stood out: water came in through the windows during the heavy rain when I checked in, so airtight replacements may help. The toilet’s wet and dry separation is only partial, and the shower head can’t be adjusted. Dust and lint show easily on the wall panel above the headboard if it isn’t cleaned. The first-floor coffee machine looks out of place beside the brand-new decor. Having to purchase breakfast separately during the trial operation is inconvenient, and the vendor choices are limited. A direct cash subsidy would work better. Parking is limited too, which is a hassle.
