Yunlin Formosa Hotel

The staff were really friendly, and the service was the best.

Really great.

They let me check in half an hour early, which I appreciated on my first stay here. The bed and pillows were supportive enough when I got into the room to rest. The corridor had no lighting, though, and there should at least be some. They seem to be taking an eco-friendly approach. Then, just as I was settling down, someone who seemed to be a housekeeping staff member opened the door and accidentally walked in, startling us. He left quickly and we locked the door straight away. A little later, someone else turned the doorknob. I don't know what to say ^^. I hope they can fix this.

I booked this very last minute. At check-in I asked if it was a hotel or a motel, and the staff said, "Both." It turned out to be a motel, nothing like a typical hotel, so that vague reply felt deliberate and dishonest. The room was spacious, but the decor, layout, and atmosphere were all standard motel style and didn't feel hotel-like. Worse, it reeked of cigarette smoke. The cleanliness and air quality were appalling, and it was very uncomfortable. If you're expecting hotel-level cleanliness, comfort, and a smoke-free environment, I strongly advise against staying here. I won't be back.
