The Reef

Ken was quick and easy to communicate with, and he’s fun to talk to, with lots of experience and good tips for dining and drinks. He and his team arranged everything on short notice. The dives were spectacular, with a barracuda among the many highlights. We stayed in the shared room’s bunk beds, just as shown in the pictures, and everything was very clean. We have nothing to complain about, which is German for a splendid five-star stay.

The island has a really chill feel, since it isn’t a huge tourist attraction. The coastal views are beautiful, and there are cool beach and forest hikes to explore. My partner and I stayed in one of the charming container rooms. It was well equipped and had a nice sea view. The scuba diving was really pleasant too, with lots of soft coral spots and colorful fish. Ken, the owner, is funny and great company. We made a friend we’d like to see again. Really recommend!

Ken made us feel completely at home and was so helpful, even while I was dealing with ferry problems. He’s a patient, kind instructor with loads of experience, basically part fish. I didn’t snorkel because I wasn’t feeling well, but my friend had the best dive experience. I’m looking forward to getting my PADI certification with Ken later this year. Our deluxe room had an amazing view, and the rooms are just the right size. Everything was clean and orderly. The new construction felt like a breath of fresh air compared with the usual Taiwan hotel experience, where many places could use an update. I can’t say enough about how wonderful the stay was. We’re already planning multiple trips back this year.

Green Island diving deserves more attention. The visibility was consistently the best I’ve experienced in Asia, and the coral variety was great, even after diving in most Asian countries. Ken was a fantastic guide, still coming up excited after every dive despite 30 years of diving around the world. I only had a little free time, but enjoyed riding around the island and visiting the hot springs before and after dives. Ken rented me a scooter, and the resort is about a five-minute ride from town, with bars and places to eat still within walking distance. The converted shipping containers are nicely fitted out, too. Ken made booking easy with helpful advice and great English, even helping me arrange the ferry. He was flexible about fitting dives around my schedule. I had a fun few days here and would stay and dive with them again when I return to Green Island.
