清水莊民宿 Chin Shue B&B

The video game “museum” is beautifully kept, and seeing the collection and playing some of the games took me back to childhood. The host was friendly and let me into my room early since it was ready. I had a large, clean double room with a private bathroom, and the collection was awesome. I stayed here while cycling from Hualien to Taitung. Being just off the main road made it quieter, and it was near an entrance to the Guanshan cycling route around town. That location worked well by bike, though it may be inconvenient if you're walking and looking for food. I really enjoyed my stay.

The video game area kept revealing little treasures the longer we looked around. The owner's son, now a graphic designer in Taitung, designed it with obvious thought and care. There are retro and modern consoles and games guests can play, a custom giant gameboy, and an Initial D driving rig. The staff member there can help set up the games and toys. There's also a nice comic collection, good coffee machine, bread with different spreads, and a fridge stocked with soft drinks. We stayed one night in July 2024. The bnb is close to the cycling path and TRA train station, with free bikes in all sorts of styles, including tandems, kids' bikes, electric bikes, and four-person electric carts. The owner gave us a map and showed us the route. The rooms are dated but still comfortable and spacious. The owners were very hospitable, let us use the washer and dryer for free, and drove us with our luggage to the station. It's walkable, but the weather was really hot. We'd definitely visit again.

Free bikes, wifi, and a tasty breakfast, plus a great base for exploring this lovely part of Taiwan tucked into a mountain valley. It’s quiet and cozy, too. And the Nintendo Arcade Shrine is AMAZING, with so many games to play. Come play and support!

The rooms were really nice, and breakfast was good too. If retro video games are your thing, the lobby is amazing! And there's Kitty!!!! >w
