Golden Coast 36 - Sea View B&B

The owners were really friendly. They cleaned the rooms and prepared everything for us daily, and even gave me a small discount when I stayed an extra night unexpectedly. It’s a small, lovely B&B with great views and patios or balconies for every room. Tucked along a little road behind the main Nanwan beach road, it was easy enough to find and had plenty of parking. The rooms have a simple Japanese wooden style and the basic necessities, with the view really being the main thing you’re paying for. Traffic on the main road can get a bit noisy sometimes, as it can at beachfront places. Breakfast was adequate but very budget level, and I wish they’d included fruit. Prices were very reasonable. A nice little getaway.

We came with the kids, and the owner even checked the night before whether they’d prefer a Western-style breakfast instead of congee. In the end they loved the congee with preserved egg and lean pork, the generous ingredients, and the fried eggs, and ate their fill. In the evening we picked up dinner from Kenting Main Street, while the owner kept offering us meat soup in case we hadn’t eaten enough. There are tables and chairs outside where everyone can sit together, chat, and eat. The sea view is visible from every room, and there’s a large parking lot outside. It’s about 500 meters from Nanwan in Kenting, around a five-minute walk. For water activities, you can ask the owner about their partner vendors, who offer better deals. We checked in on October 25th during the Guangfu holiday after reserving three rooms a week ahead. Then a friend’s parent was unexpectedly hospitalized on October 24th, so they couldn’t come. The owner was very kind and helped sort it out. Our room was for six, with three beds in a traditional Japanese style. It’s a little old but cozy. The guesthouse has lots of cats, and several are friendly enough to pet. A well-known guesthouse I’d visit again.
