Little Paradise Inn

The staff's attitude wasn't good, and I don't want to support this place by staying here again. The room was filthy everywhere, from the floor, toilet, bathroom, cabinets, and table to the mouthwash cups and glasses. There was dust all over, and the glasses felt so dirty I hesitated to use them. Instead of dropping off our luggage, turning on the air conditioning, and relaxing like at other hotels, I had to spend our first day wiping and scrubbing every corner with wet wipes. They expect guests to do the cleaning themselves. I couldn't stand it even for a week. The air conditioning kept switching between hot and cold. I don't know whether it's just our room or if the others are the same. The gym had very little equipment, and some broken items hadn't been replaced. It might be okay for a short rest, but I really wouldn't recommend it for a longer stay. No wonder the rating is only 3.3 stars. The location only gets two stars from me because it's right next to a Starbucks and McDonald's. As other reviews mentioned, there's a privately owned hotel in the same building, and monthly renters can't even get breakfast. Why can't we eat breakfast in the same building? It's absolutely awful. The air conditioning was terrible, like sleeping in a sauna. I'll never come back.

Getting around was easy, with the West Gate and South Gate both within walking distance. What really made the stay, though, was how thoughtful the owner was. We were there for two nights with the whole family, including a kindergarten-aged child, and needed plenty of bottled water. He brought over a whole case because he wanted to be sure we had enough to make milk at night. He also gave us a discount for staying two nights and covered our parking when he worried the hotel lot might be full. He made us feel at home. It was a lovely experience, and I’d stay again if I’m back.

The owner was honest and nice, and the photos match the ones in other reviews. Starbucks and McDonald’s are next door, and the place is right by a main road, with all the facilities of “Kenting Holiday” available. But this is a daily rental suite inside “Kenting Holiday” with no sign of its own. The room was old and moldy, and the soundproofing was very poor. We arrived very late, so changing rooms at the last minute wasn’t possible. It isn’t a legal guesthouse, so think carefully before booking.

Parking is a gamble, since there’s nowhere to park once the spaces fill up. Still, my stay was positive, and I’m writing because the guesthouse really wasn’t as bad as some reviews make it sound. The room was clean enough at check-in and a little old, but not in the poor state I’d expected. There was a faint smell when I walked in; after the air conditioner had been running for a while it went away, probably because the room had been stuffy in the heat. The AC was set to 25°C and felt quite cold. I liked the bed’s firmness, and my child found it comfortable too. The cabinet by the entrance was a thoughtful touch, since guesthouses often don’t have one and you end up putting luggage on the floor. There’s also a swimming pool. Given the price, I hadn’t expected much from the room, so that’s the basis for my five stars.
