Xiang Xiang Hotel

The big king beds were really comfortable, and bike hire is free. They even have free shaving and bathroom supplies at the desk. There’s a cozy bar area and an upscale restaurant too. This feels much more like a five-star hotel.

The room was clean, and when I called about the cigarette smell in the bathroom, someone came right away to deodorize it. The service was okay, though. The location isn’t very convenient, with few nearby convenience stores or places to eat, and parking is neither inside nor next to the hotel. We were on the 13th floor and had to go down to the 5th for water. I’d suggest putting a dispenser on every floor.

The lobby looked much fancier than the sister hotel, and the rooms were nicer too. There was a slight smell, but it wasn’t too bad, and at least there wasn’t mold everywhere. When we arrived late after switching from the awful rooms at Riverside Hengchun nearby, the beds had already been changed from twin to a double and there was an air purifier in each room, even though we’d been told the twin setup couldn’t be changed until the next day. The shower was the main problem. There was almost no pressure, and the broken showerhead split the water in two directions, so hardly any reached me. Breakfast was really bad. We paid the hotel directly for both nights, although I noticed Agoda had a slightly lower rate for the second one. I didn’t want the hassle of making two bookings. Our driver said the hotel had been bought earlier this year and renovated. Seeing what happened at its sister hotel, I wonder how long it’ll be before this one gets moldy too. I wouldn’t pick it first if I came back.

Good value and a great stay overall. The hotel sign was a little confusing, but the woman at the counter on duty on 13 and 14 Oct was especially helpful and great.
