Hotel Royal Hsinchu

I felt safe and comfortable at Hotel Royal, and I'd happily stay at the otel Royal again when I'm back in Hsinchu. The location worked well for me: Science Park, Starbucks, Jin Shin Lake, and tons of dining are within walking distance. There's a free weekday morning shuttle to certain nearby businesses, staff can arrange taxis, and the hotel also offers a shuttle to and from Taoyuan Airport (TPE) for an extra cost. What stood out most was the hospitality. Staff answered emails across time zones, opened car doors, and helped with all sorts of questions and requests in person. Tony from the concierge team took great care when showing me how to use the room controls and when I injured myself. A few days later he asked how I was doing, which made me feel cared for. I also hurt my elbow during the stay, and staff lent me a reusable ice bag each day. The complimentary happy hour twice a week was generous and fun. I enjoyed trying snacks and chatting with Carrie at the lobby bar. She's worked at Hotel Royal for decades and has a lot of knowledge and experiences to share. The food was a highlight. I'd definitely add breakfast: the buffet had lots of fresh meat and seafood, familiar Western breakfast foods, and plenty of Eastern dishes, including some I'd never tried before. I enjoyed everything. I ate at Ming Court a couple of times and liked everything I ordered. A formal dinner with my colleagues was amazing, with many courses and delicacies. Peking duck was my favorite. The amenities were good too. On the fifth floor by the gym, sauna, and pool there's a water refill station and laundry facilities. Salon services are available too, though I didn't use them. I did have a couple of problems. There was hair on the floor when I first checked in, and some mold in the bathroom, so the rooms and bathrooms need better cleaning. Also, the AC in my room didn't work for a couple of days. Staff dealt with it and fixed it, and offered me another room if the problem continued. It didn't after they fixed it a couple of times.

The room worked perfectly for me, with seats and a bureau. The bathroom and shower were clean, the staff friendly, and breakfast had quite a good selection. There were many small restaurants nearby.

I was there for a business meeting, and the conference room setup was good. They also have some great dining choices, from à la carte and buffet to tiffin boxes.

We booked a deluxe room, and it was roomy, clean, and quiet. The staff were great and spoke English. Shops of all kinds are right across from the hotel, and the breakfast buffet was excellent. We'll stay here again when we come back to Taiwan.
