Breakfast was okay, though there wasn’t much to choose from, and the staff spoke very little English, so I needed a translator. The room had cockroaches and mosquitoes, and the sticky bathroom floor meant I had to wear slippers. When I returned after work, the AC and fridge had been off, and it took hours for the room to cool down. There’s a washing machine but no dryer, so clothes take days to dry.

The room was huge, and I felt very good there. It was quiet inside despite being on a busy street, and the front desk staff were friendly and helpful. There’s laundry access in the room, though I had only a few items and didn’t use it. Breakfast was just a tasty sandwich, a very small coffee, and a little fruit box delivered to the room. That cost it a star.

At my late-night check-in, the male receptionist barely paid attention and stayed glued to his phone. His dismissive manner was completely unacceptable. The service was appalling, and I won’t stay here again. I strongly urge others to avoid this hotel.

I’ve been coming to the Kingdom for more than 10 years, usually for about two weeks, three or four times a year. It’s comfortable rather than luxurious, with nice rooms, some of them really large. Some rooms have washing machines and microwaves, so ask for those when booking if you need them. I especially love the huge walk-in showers. The staff are very nice and helpful. English can be a challenge for detailed questions, but patience helps. There are lots of Japanese and other foreign guests, though not many from the US. You get internet, bottled water, coffee and tea in the room, plus a pretty good breakfast buffet. A small grocery store next door makes it easy to pick up a snack, and plenty of restaurants are an easy walk away. The shuttle to the Science Park is complimentary, though I often walk. I’d happily stay here for one night or several weeks.
