THE Tango Hotel Taipei Shilin

Right across from Jiantan MRT station, so getting around was easy. The room was clean and had some nice tech, including a smart toilet and curtains operated by remote. There was even an espresso machine for coffee.

My main gripe is the name: Tango Taipei Shilin is by Jiantan station, not Shilin station, so you could end up looking in the wrong place. I also wish checkout were later, at noon. The room was nice, and breakfast was modest but tasty. Jiantan station is just across the road, which makes this a handy base for Beitou, National Taiwan museum, art museums, and Shilin night market, all around 8-10 minutes away.

For my first trip to Taiwan, Tango Shilin worked out well, and I'd recommend it to other first-time visitors. Jiantan Station is right outside, while Shilin Night Market is about a 15-20 minute walk away. The area felt safe and quiet. I was traveling solo, and my room was cozy, clean, and well maintained. The bathroom was surprisingly spacious for the room and VERY clean, plus the heated toilet seat was a nice extra. It may be rated three stars, but I felt it deserved a little more. The front desk staff can come across as a bit cold, though they were efficient, and that was what mattered to me.

Breakfast was simple and reasonably good. My room was small, though the toilet area was large. I was on the 10th floor, and despite facing a main road and an LRT station, it was quiet.
