The location was good, the rooms were clean and big enough, and they let us check in early. But our stay with children was also marked by rude interactions with staff, and I was severely bitten by what seemed like bed bugs. My husband had bites on his legs too, and my baby daughter had one on her cheek. My one-and-a-half-year-old nephew stood in the hallway watching a staff member fix a door. He didn’t approach or touch anything, but the staff member rudely asked if we could make him go away because they were busy. When my one-year-old daughter babbled loudly, but wasn’t crying or having a tantrum, a staff member asked whether we could stop her because they couldn’t hear the phone. At 4:00 am, my sister asked if they could heat chocolate milk in the microwave for my five-year-old niece, who’d woken up. The staff member said okay, then added that it wasn’t a service they offered guests. Families with children are allowed to book here, but if staff can’t handle children, the hotel should change that policy. The kids weren’t having tantrums, hitting anyone, or causing disruption in those situations. I know children can cry, yell, and be loud, and we parents do our best to keep things peaceful for other guests. But a one-and-a-half-year-old can’t stay quiet all the time or avoid wandering around curiously.

A small boutique hotel in a good spot near the LRT/MRT, with good restaurants and cocktail bars within reach. My room was small but clean. I picked a windowless one because I like it dark and quiet for sleeping between meetings. The little bathtub in the shower was a nice way to unwind after a busy day. Breakfast was just average.

Getting around was easy from this central spot, with access to different MRT lines and only a few stops to Taipei main station. Zhongxiao Dunhua station and the East area metro Underground mall are just a very short walk in front of the hotel building. From Zhongxiao Fuxing MRT station, use exit 4 and follow the “Miki Plaza” sign toward Daiso, then go to door 14 for the escalators. Outside Zhongxiao Fuxing Exit 2, there’s a Keelung express bus stop for Jiufen and Taipei main station. The only small complaint during our stay was that the pillow flattened easily. Otherwise, we were happy with the hotel.

Just a heads-up, there’s another Hej Taipei near the arena, so make sure you go to the right one. This hotel was nice and quiet. They’ll give you bottled water if you ask, and the room snacks are free. The sink isn’t too small. The light switches are by the bed but can be hidden by the pillows, in case you can’t find them. You don’t need a travel adapter either.

Spacious, cosy, and clean. There’s a handy little pantry area by the lobby. I’d definitely recommend staying here.
