A Good Man's Hostel

The location near the train station is nice, and the rooms are decent for the cheap price. Just be ready for noise in the morning when people get up, since there’s not much sound isolation. There’s no check-in desk: message the owner with the door QR code when you arrive, and they’ll send a password to enter the hostel. I’d recommend it if you’re looking for a cheap option.

Cheap, but the place is dirty and the walls are paper-thin. You get what you pay for. Bring earplugs if you want to sleep.

The location is great, with plenty of convenience stores and restaurants across the street. The sheets and towels were clean and stain-free, there’s free drinking water, self check-in worked flawlessly, and the bathroom was clean enough and spacious. But the room is absolutely tiny. There’s about 30 cm between the bed and door, and with two backpacks and two pieces of luggage, there’s no room left to stand. There’s no sound insulation at all. A big gap above the wall means you can hear neighbors breathing, and they could even photograph you through it. You can hear every scooter passing on the street too, so it’s really noisy. The smoke detector doesn’t work because it doesn’t even have a battery. There was also a note inside the room offering 100 taiwan dollar for a 10 star rating on booking dot com. That’s an absolute no-go, and why I’m giving one star. I attached a picture of it.

You get what you pay for. The bed was really comfortable, the room was clean, the hot shower was good, and the AC worked well. The location’s good too. Rooms are tiny, but most people here are heading to the national park, so you probably won’t spend much time in yours. Not sure why everyone’s making such a fuss in the reviews. At £10 a night, it’s not going to be the Ritz!
