The breakfast included was decent, and there’s plenty of free parking. The shower had strong pressure and hot water; the bathroom was sufficient, and the bed was comfortable. Rooms were clean and rates were fair. The staff were warm, friendly, helpful, and welcoming. It’s a nice pet-friendly hotel / B&B, though it’s a bit off the beaten path and outside downtown Hualien. That’s no problem if you have a car or scooter. I’d stay here again on my next visit to the Hualien area.

Being pet friendly mattered most to me, and this place was. The room was fairly spacious, clean, and had sturdy, well-kept furnishings. Convenience stores are under a five-minute walk away, and the night market is about a ten-minute drive. Parking was easy and plentiful for us by car. I did find ants under the sofa and got rid of them with Lemongrass spray. The airport is nearby, so departing planes can be loud, but that was only before midnight and in the morning, and shouldn't interrupt sleep.

I wouldn't recommend this hostel to friends or family. It felt overpriced and managed more like a hotel than a Taiwanese hostel where guests feel welcomed and get some warmth. We booked one night through booking.com and hadn't seen the listed NT$300 pet housekeeping fee. I thought a fee like that would be charged at checkout if the maid found the pet had made a mess. NT$300 isn't a lot, but it wasn't clear what it covered. When we asked about possible extra charges or rules, the words were polite, though their expressions and body language felt sour and bitter. At one point they even said we could leave if we had so many doubts. It was 8 pm, and we only wanted to drop off our bags before going out for dinner. I couldn't understand why a business would turn away legitimate customers.

The rooms were spotless and had no smoke smell, and the place felt cozy. The staff were polite and really helpful. They also welcome pets. This was great, and I'll definitely come back. Highly recommend.

The bed was super comfortable, the shower was nice, and breakfast was delicious. They welcome pets too. I'd definitely recommend it and come back!
