Constellation Coast B&B

The owner was friendly, breakfast was yummy, and the location was fantastic, right by the beach and very close to Taiwan's best night market. We had a delightful stay in a lovely room. The floor squeaked so much that sneaking to the bathroom without waking my family was tricky.

We came to Constellation Coast B&B for a lazy New Year's Eve weekend, and that's exactly what we got. The price was affordable enough that we stayed an extra day just to relax, and the value was incredible. I hadn't expected a room this spacious or a full breakfast at that price. The owner offered us bikes every day, which saved us the trouble of renting them. The ocean front, nightmarket, New Year's concert, shops, and restaurants were all an easy walk away. We'll definitely return!

It was clean, but felt a little overpriced. The decor was quite old and the rooms were dim. Buildings stand in front, though you can still see part of the sea, which makes for a decent morning view. Breakfast was mediocre, mostly Taiwanese lunch dishes and not enough Western choices. I would've preferred bacon and eggs to rice. It's alright if you just need a very budget-friendly place to crash.

The location is the one real plus: you're next to the ocean and a 10 minute walk from a great night market. The building itself is old and run-down, and it's not a place to get a good night's sleep. Wallpaper is peeling, the beds feel like boxsprings, and the thin walls let in air conditioners, refrigerators, other guests' showers, doors opening and closing, and footsteps in the hall all night. If you're wondering whether paying extra for a nicer place is worth it, yes.
