Corner House

The location right next to the train station made arrival and departure really easy. I also appreciated the laundry service, only 40 TWD a wash, a great price for backpackers. The dorms have proper curtains that block the light completely, so you can sleep even while other people are moving around. The lobby is beautifully decorated and feels more like a chic café than a hostel common room. The staff lady was so kind and welcoming, and even offered me a delicious Americano. Corner House Hostel in Hualien really impressed me with the service and amenities. It's one of the best hostel stays I've had, with a great mix of comfort, style, and a convenient location. Highly recommend!

Tina, the owner, is wonderful and works hard to keep the hostel clean and organized. She's really helpful and accommodating, and the hostel is in a great spot with lots of thoughtful details to make a trip better.

Other than what happened, it's an okay place. A very nice woman showed me around and was kind and helpful when I checked in, even though her limited English was enough to get by. Later, though, the male staff member was no help at all and seemed like he didn't care whether I was there. I took a card with me so I could find my way back, but when I called the guy at reception, he was completely unhelpful. The website had nothing in English, and searching online for Corner house backpackers hostel brought up nothing. Even local people had trouble finding it, despite the card being in Chinese. It's a real shame, because I was going to stay another night, but this put me off.

The staff are friendly and the room is clean. I love this place and will stay again if I return to Hualien!
