Arthur went out of his way to sort out taxis, restaurant arrangements, and activity ideas, which was a huge help since we don't speak Mandarin. He speaks good English, and we had a wonderful stay with him and his family. The breakfasts were excellent, and there was fruit and cake in the afternoon. Our Japanese room had a two-person soaking tub, art, a tiny private zen garden, fresh flowers, and an oil diffuser. The minsu is about a 10-minute drive from Hualien train station, around 180 Taiwanese dollars by taxi, in a pleasant residential neighborhood near a university. Restaurants are walkable, while the street stays quiet at night. It's also a handy base for cycling by the river or riding to Mukumugi and Liyu Lake, with free bike rentals from the minsu.

We've been to Hualien twice since 2016, and stayed here both times. The place has never let us down. It's clean, secure, and the rooms are spacious. Host Auther and his family are very friendly, and his wife makes superb breakfasts. There are plenty of eateries nearby because it's close to the University, and the host can arrange taxis to get around. Taxi driver Ms Kok was also very nice and reliable. Couples and families should consider staying here. It's a little more expensive, but worth it.

Arthur was warm and welcoming, and patient about our questions and requests. We enjoyed our stay, especially getting to benefit from his photography expertise.

We spent four days here and had a really good stay. The surroundings are peaceful, breakfast was delicious, and the bosses were attentive. They also gave us helpful travel tips. We'll definitely come back! 👍👍
