The sixth-floor hallway carpet is a tripping hazard and needs stretching and cleaning, or replacing. Our family room was spacious, with Wi-Fi, fun decor, a jacuzzi tub, a glass shower, and plenty of sockets for charging. The staff were helpful, friendly, and accommodating.

The repeated checkout calls were the frustrating part. After three nights, we paid 500 to 600 bucks in advance to stay another five or six hours, but reception still called every five minutes from 4:15 pm to remind us to leave at 5:15. We had a 5:55 pm train, so we couldn’t stay beyond 5:15 even though they asked us to. The room itself was clean and looked just like the Agoda photos, and the atmosphere was nice. Breakfast was okay. It’s easy to reach from Hualien station, with viewpoints and other places nearby, and the hotel provides bicycles.

I like stopping at these “rest” hotels when I’m out in Taiwan, and this is one of the best and cheapest I’ve tried. For about what four Starbucks coffees cost, you get a private, relaxing place for three hours. It’s clean, quiet, and inexpensive, a nice break from summer heat where you can shower or soak before going back out for the evening. The water pressure is really strong, and the deep tub has great jets.

The rooms we booked had different themes, one Egyptian and one Japanese, and the staff were friendly. It’s an affordable, clean hotel just a short walk from Hualien train station. Breakfast was a filling buffet with a decent range of choices.
