Fullon Hotel Hualien

A clean, comfortable hotel with helpful, friendly staff. You can hire a bike right in the lobby, which is handy for a short ride around the city or parks.

My partner went missing just before we were supposed to leave for our holiday. The stress and anxiety were enormous, and we had to cancel the whole trip. After four grueling days, he was found safe but confused. We missed the hotel’s free cancellation deadline by just one day. I explained the circumstances in an email, and trip.com also tried to mediate, but the hotel still refused to waive the charge. I understand that policies exist and can’t be changed for every situation, but I wish they’d considered the human side instead of sticking to the rules without regard for what had happened.

Updates: I had a great stay at Fullon Hotel Hualien. The room was spacious and comfortable, with an awesome view of the harbor. I liked being near the coast and at the start of the bike trail, in a quiet area. Borrowing a bike from the hotel made it easy to explore the bike-friendly town. The staff were attentive and friendly. Some didn’t speak English, but they used Google Translate to communicate, which I appreciated. My only issue was trying to confirm the station pickup before arrival. I had trouble reaching the hotel, and it wasn’t sorted out until the day before I got there. I’d gladly stay again on my next visit to Hualien and hope it’s easier to get in touch next time. It was a wonderful experience, and I’d recommend the hotel. ==================== 2025/01/13: As a foreign visitor, I found it nearly impossible to get in touch. I don’t live in TW, so I emailed and messaged the hotel on LINE using the contact details on its website. I was trying to arrange the station pickup included with my stay and asked for the details. After a day, I finally got one reply through LINE, along with a website that wasn’t in English and an image that only showed a phone number for booking. At least they didn’t ask me to make an international call, and they said I could request the booking through LINE. I sent the request with all the details three days ago, but haven’t heard anything since, so I assume the ride still isn’t booked. The free ride itself isn’t a big deal since I should be able to get a cab. It was the poor communication, especially about a promised service, and the lack of helpfulness that felt underwhelming and not very hospitable. I also had to contact Tango Hotel Taipei for the same trip. They responded quickly and were very helpful. I hope the stay is nice, and I’ll update this review afterward.

I spent two days here and only spotted the game room downstairs while waiting for my airport shuttle. Wish I’d found it earlier! The lobby is huge, there’s a nice pool, and my upgraded Western / Asian style room had a great view of the Pacific shore and the port. The spa and sauna cost extra. As for the complimentary flavored vinegar drinks in the room, well, they taste like vinegar. Ugh...
