The stay was satisfactory to good, about 3.5 stars, but nothing out of the ordinary. The room looked clean on the surface, which was okay. The bathroom wasn’t clean. There were old stains on the wash basin that hadn’t been cleaned away, and the toilet was always smelly because it was shared. Two bathrooms for ten people meant sometimes waiting ages, even just to use the toilet. The first-floor bathroom could easily be made into a separate toilet and shower.

The bathrooms are spacious, and the hostel is clean and tidy. It’s around 600 metres, or a 10-minute walk, from Hualien Railway station. The owner speaks Chinese and English and explains things carefully, which is quite helpful.

The staff member was super friendly and spoke really good English. He kindly kept my luggage for me, and I’m very grateful. I had a pleasant stay and felt welcome and safe the whole time. I could also park my scooter in the backyard, which was locked from the outside.

Downstairs, the shared living room feels light and airy, with a beautiful long wooden table where guests can swap stories with the owner and each other. In the dorms there’s plenty of privacy, and each bed space is spacious. It’s a super comfortable, clean hostel with thoughtful design. I’d absolutely recommend it!

For the price, the only private room for two was huge, and the bathroom was huge too. I just wish they’d add an air circulation fan and a few bathroom shelves.
