The owner worked quickly and skillfully, and the food came out fast. Prices were reasonable, and the place was clean and tidy despite its traditional snack shop feel. Seating wasn’t too crowded either. I finally tried the signature snack that people often recommend, after seeing how popular the shop is whenever I pass by. The ingredients seemed fresh, with no strange taste, and the seasoning was just right. The first bite showed it wasn’t a rushed dish. A nice option for a simple meal if you like traditional snacks.

I rarely give a business a one-star review, but this stay was awful. My wife, child, and I, a family of four, booked room 101 at a guesthouse during a trip back home. After driving all the way from Taipei, we couldn’t reach anyone and had to wait outside for a full 13 minutes, delaying urgent plans. They had said someone would be there, but nobody showed up. We also hadn’t been told about the handover or given the key and room password in advance. The hot water situation was worse. After bathing one child, there was no more hot water. We hadn’t used much, just wet ourselves and rinsed off the soap, but the remaining three of us, my child, my wife, and me, were left with an ice-cold shower. The separate shower stall was completely useless. The weather wasn’t even warm yet, and I had to shower in cold water for three days straight. I couldn’t stand it. It was awful, the worst I’ve ever encountered. Update: Their response is just an explanation for other guests, with no intention of admitting there were problems. I guess a few more guests have to be exposed to this before they realize it themselves. We didn’t arrive early. They didn’t answer the phone or tell us anything beforehand. And as I said, there was hot water, but only enough for one child. After that, if you want hot water, you have to wait more than ten minutes without clothes on. It was only NT$2000 a night, which is very cheap, but there are plenty of better places in Hualien.
