The boss was friendly and generous, and the room was clean with the basics covered for the price. It’s right in central Hualien, which is a great location. But the room looked quite different from the photos on the booking sites. I took some pictures, so you can decide for yourself.

Our room had a lovely view of the Central Mountain Range, and the guesthouse was quiet. The building looks like an ordinary home from outside, so don’t let that fool you, the interior is quite distinctive. The floor is made of separate stone pieces, so slippers are a good idea. There’s no fridge in the room, but you can use the shared one in the second-floor common area. The proprietress was very kind and treated us to plantains. When the Wi-Fi wouldn’t connect in our original room, she moved us to another. There’s plenty to eat a couple of streets away, and a taxi to Dongdamen Night Market costs about NTD.160.
