Keton Motel Hualien

I was nervous about checking in after seeing the online reviews, but the room was clean despite the older facilities, and the bed and blankets were comfortable. The pet-friendly stay is free as long as your dog doesn't poop or pee in the bathroom or get on the bed. The receptionist was kind, too. We were driving from Taitung on Provincial Highway 9 through Yuli when a large truck overtook us and splashed mud on our car. The receptionist showed us where to wash it and even gave us a small towel to clean ourselves. It gave me a warm feeling about Hualien, and I'd stay here again next time.

The room was very noisy, with outdated equipment and no discount to make up for it. Hot water took a long time to come through, breakfast wasn't included so we had to walk a bit to find food, and the internet connection was hard to keep stable. The bedside phone kept connecting randomly, so I unplugged all the phone lines to stop it. I wouldn't recommend this place.

For the price, the cleanliness was acceptable for a one-night stay, even though this is an older motel. But the shower water stayed cold, which was really unacceptable, especially in winter.

The staff were friendly and patient, and Hualien Station is very close by. I liked the cozy room layout, which was just what I wanted. It was also very clean and had strong air conditioning. I'll definitely come back next time.
