Parkview Hotel Hualien

There’s a very large pool that guests can use morning, afternoon and evening, plus a children’s playroom. The lobby restaurant serves breakfast, afternoon snacks and dinner. Some of the facilities are old, but the accommodation was comfortable overall, and the staff were warm and friendly.

We’ve stayed here twice now, for a few days each time, and would definitely return. The rooms are clean and comfortable, and my baby boy loved walking around on the soft carpets. The staff are really nice, and the hotel gave my wife a special birthday treat. At the pool, one lifeguard got confrontational and aggressive with us for not wearing swimming caps while we sat in the shallow end taking photos. He said it was a nationwide policy, which isn’t true. Good five-star hotels around Taiwan let people decide whether to wear a cap. Another lifeguard stepped in and defused the situation. Thanks to him.

The room is large, though the TV screen feels quite small for a room that size.

Our family room was huge, clean and really comfortable, and the staff were polite and pleasant throughout. At check-in, they noticed we were overseas visitors and switched straight to English, even though we can speak some Chinese. My teenage kids had a great time in the entertainment room at night. Breakfast was good too. There wasn’t as much variety as at some large hotels, but we enjoyed all the food. This was our favourite hotel of the Taiwan trip.
