We stayed here in Feb 2024, right by the ocean, with a beach boardwalk that leads straight to the night market. The area is lovely for a stroll or jog. Our room was spacious and clean with amazing views, plus breakfast and coffee were included. The owner was accommodating and could answer questions on Whatsapp. Hualien station is a quick taxi or bus ride away.

There’s no elevator, but the caretaker carried our big bags up to our rooms on the 2nd and 3rd floors. The front door and rooms use smart key fobs, so security felt good. Our room was simple and clean, with a strong shower. The homestay faces the sea, though our room didn’t, and the promenade is just across the one-way road, a nice place to walk. The night market is nearby too. There are probably only 2 rooms per floor in this 4-level building, counting the Ground floor, which is the 1st floor in Taiwan. Downstairs is a functional common area with sofas, tables, and chairs, plus facilities for making coffee and tea. Nothing fancy, but it works.

Jacob was a super friendly and helpful host, and the room was large, bright, clean, and had a comfy bed. The view was fantastic. White Sand Homestay is a good base for exploring Hualien/Taroko Park. It takes about 10mn by taxi from the train station and costs around NTD150.

The owner was so kind, and I liked the balcony. The room had a romantic bed and was neat and tidy.

It’s noisy because it’s beside a busy road. The takeout breakfast is cheap, and if you stay more than one night, you’ll find they serve the same thing again. A free ride to and from the station is available if you request it.
