Aimen 168 B&B is handy for the airport, which isn’t far away. I stayed one night in a single bed in a dorm room. The owner was really friendly 🥰, and the room felt spotless. For what I paid, the stay was better value than expected. I’d happily recommend it.

The biggest worry for me was security. The main entrance wasn’t locked at night, and the electric gate could be opened whenever, with no controls. The second door was easy to get through too, so it was practically pointless. Only the room had an ordinary lock. The check-out interaction made an already bad stay worse. I asked the male staff member at the front desk where to leave the key, and he answered coldly, without looking up, that it was on the round table. I tried to tell him the bathroom faucet was faulty, but he ignored me completely. That was the last straw. I’ve visited Penghu several times, and this was my first experience this unpleasant. I won’t stay here again or recommend it to friends. The common areas were a mess. There was a heap of clutter by the entrance, and inside, sofas, tables, and desks were piled with things, with helmets scattered around. It was quite a shock. There was no refrigerator in the room, so we had to take things downstairs to chill them. The shower faucet was broken too: about two-thirds of the water came out of the tap and the rest leaked from underneath. The bathroom floor was dirty. We kept finding bugs: small cockroaches first, then centipedes, geckos, and even praying mantises. The whole stay was truly awful.

The location is very good, but that was the only redeeming thing. Everything else was awful, especially the cleanliness. The place was so dirty it made me feel sick 🤢🤮. I scrubbed the toilet myself just so I could use it, and still felt too uncomfortable to go. I held it until morning and used the airport bathroom. The rest of the place was filthy too. I’ve stayed at another private home in Magong for the same price, 450 NTD, and it was decent. This one was really bad. At that point I thought it would be better to sleep at the airport. Everything being cheap seems to have a reason. I was worried I’d get sick sleeping there, so I was thinking I might just shower and go sleep outside at the airport ㅠㅠ.

For a late arrival or an early flight back to Taiwan, this place is handy: it’s under a ten-minute walk from the airport. The price is affordable, there are car rental discounts, and airport pickups are available during working hours. You can come and go freely without a curfew. The landlady greets you warmly, and the other people are friendly too. The backpacker beds have curtains for privacy, a bedside light, and two power outlets each. Wi-Fi is free, and shampoo and shower gel are provided in the bathroom. There’s a clothesline at the back of the first floor for laundry, plus a water dispenser and a small shop with useful things like towels and coffee packets. A refrigerator is also available downstairs, and the room air conditioning is strong. A few things could be better: the router is poorly placed, so the signal in the dorm rooms drops sometimes. There’s no bathroom exhaust fan, which leaves moisture lingering after a shower, and cleanliness needs work. It’s in the suburbs, so at night the nearest place to get food is probably just a 7-Eleven.

Parking is convenient, the beach and airport are nearby, and the rented motorbikes are good quality. The price is low, but the lack of basic hygiene makes this place hard to recommend. It was difficult to find anyone at the counter. Sometimes people were sleeping barefoot on the living room sofa. Clutter piled up at the entrance and in the lobby, which looked more like a motorbike repair shop. The rooms had a strong musty smell as soon as I walked in, enough to make me worry about my health, and the corners weren’t properly cleaned, with signs of biological activity. The owner seems to run things very casually and miss the details. The service was poor.
