I found this guesthouse pretty ordinary after staying there. I had first rated it three stars, but heard the owner wasn't happy with that, so I changed it to two and wanted to share what happened. I'd avoid the princess room on the second floor. Its hot water boiler is on the outside wall, and whenever the hot water is switched on, there's a loud rumbling throughout the room that seriously affected our stay. My companions said the chaise lounge on the third floor also has a noticeable rumble. If noise bothers you, choosing a different room type may be best.

The place was clean and tidy, and the landlady was polite. It's fairly close to the city center, and I'd stay here again.

Our family tour had to be rescheduled because of the earthquake. The trip operator kindly explained that many attractions in Hualien were unaffected and remained beautiful and peaceful.
