The outdoor setting is lovely, and with good weather the sky is full of stars. I even spotted a shooting star. The dogs do tend to bark and howl at night, though, and that was the one thing that bothered me. I stayed five nights and found it great value, with longer stays available. There's a Tatung electric cooker, oven, microwave, and gas stove, as well as laundry facilities and parking. Just keep in mind that unless you book the whole building, you'll share it with other guests.

Wake up to birdsong and flowers, with a laid-back country feel. There's outdoor space and a big coffee table where you can sit in the breeze and chat. The price is reasonable, and the owner is kind and friendly. I'd recommend it if you're considering a place to stay in Hualien.

It's a new guesthouse at the foot of a mountain, not far from the city center. People often go for an evening walk or jog nearby. There's no breakfast, but the kitchen is well equipped, and you can use the washing machine on the rooftop balcony. There are also a few bicycles, though they're in poor condition.

A lovely setting and comfortable rooms made for a very pleasant stay.
