We had a great time here. The host was kind and enthusiastic, and the guesthouse has lots of amenities. It’s in a convenient spot, just ten minutes from Hualien station. Highly recommend!

A lot of the landlady’s own artwork is beautifully made. Still, she has plenty of rules. Even with the whole building leased, she lives on the first floor, so you often have to be careful about how you use the living room. There’s no activity after 11 PM, which may not suit people who like staying out late. She also comes into rooms to clear the trash without asking. It feels like the tiles matter more to her than the guests’ feelings.

The B&B is lovely, but going without hot water in such cold weather was unbearable. It was still cold at 1 a.m.; I planned to shower in the morning instead, but the water was ice cold then too. How are you supposed to wash like that? 😮💨🤦♂️ The dog kept barking in the middle of the night, so I couldn’t sleep. After I finally nodded off, it started up again around 6 a.m. 😵💫⋯⋯ There’s a video below of the dog barking.

Such a lovely visit. Before we left, the landlady picked a couple of fragrant lemons from a tree so we could make a pound cake at home and remember the trip by.
