Jade Spring Hot Spring Hotel

The beds felt a little too soft for us, but we still slept very well. The breakfast remains excellent, and now there's also a complimentary afternoon coffee break with a piece of cake and coffee or tea. We were last here seven years ago. The hotel has since expanded to two buildings and changed its name, but it's still one of our favorite places to stay when we're in Taiwan.

The room was nice, the breakfast was fabulous, the location was great, and the rest of the staff were friendly and helpful. But one receptionist was extremely rude and unprofessional. I requested early check-in when booking, and on the day they sent me a link confirming it and saying the room was ready. Even so, the woman at reception kept us waiting for two hours. A different agent eventually confirmed the room was ready and let us go in. The next morning, when my father asked where breakfast was served, she shouted, "4 floor." I was dumbstruck by how rude she was. That's why I gave three stars, even though everything else was really nice.

The service was good and they gave us some complimentary welcome snacks. The onsen tub is big, though the shower area is quite narrow, and the place wasn't as clean as I expected. The lift on the right, closest to the horse merry go round, is really bad. It bruised someone's wrist. We told the staff at the counter and they gave us first aid, but one of them just said we should press the open button. That really stunned me. Apart from that, everything was fine.

The location gets 10/10 from me. The tub was the highlight too, roomy enough for two people without a problem. The room itself wasn't very clean and the decor felt outdated. Breakfast was alright, mostly Chinese or Taiwanese dishes, and the coffee was surprisingly good. Cleanliness: 6/10 Breakfast: 6/10 Location: 10/10
