Century Hotel

The room was clean and tidy, and the air conditioner worked well. The location is good, right by the night market, and the service was nice. Still, secondhand smoke would sometimes drift into the room.

We were treated like criminals and shamed over a $100 extra-hour charge, so I really wouldn’t recommend this place. Nobody had clearly explained the checkout rules, and the staff member seemed unwilling to hear any explanation. We weren’t refusing to pay, but she said the police were on the way, which felt completely unnecessary for the situation. Before we arrived, I tried calling to make a reservation and nobody picked up. The woman at the desk seemed welcoming when we got there, but the check-in details weren’t clear and she said nothing about checkout. The room seemed overpriced at 3k, though a weekend promotion brought it down to 1k, which felt more reasonable. On checkout morning we were a little late. The woman called, which was normal, and I said we were almost ready. She kept calling while we were trying to hurry, so I eventually hung up. When we went downstairs, she asked for $100 for the extra hour and said police were coming. I work in the service industry and understand that police could make my workplace look bad, but that didn’t make the way we were handled okay. Staff need to treat customers with more respect.

Both the hotel and room were clean and pleasant. It suited us for a short visit, and we’d stay again.

A good value, with a nice-looking new hotel and a handy location near two MRT stations.
