Chateau de Chine Hotel Kaohsiung

The laundry facilities were very useful for our family, and our room was spacious, clean and cozy. Everything felt comfortable and well thought out. The staff were friendly, especially Jocelyn, the Indonesian-Chinese customer service staff at the 7th floor VIP lounge. She was warm and approachable, spoke English very well, and knew how to engage with guests. She made us feel welcome as soon as we arrived. Excellent service and a great stay, we’d definitely return and recommend it.

The cockroaches in our room were the one downside, and we had already reported them to the front desk. The location is excellent, within walking distance of Pier 2 and the nearest MRT station, with plenty of amenities close by. Staff were warm and helpful, and breakfast was great. I’d still choose this hotel again if I visit Kaoshiung.

There’s a VIP lounge with beer on tap from 6pm-10pm daily and snacks, which we really enjoyed. Yuan Yuan was kind and friendly, and recommended places to see in Kaohsiung and places to eat. We appreciated the gesture. The location is great with lots of good food around. The room was okay, a bit old style, and sometimes the tub in the room was moldy.

The free happy hour from 6-10pm was a surprise, with beer, coffee, tea, soda, and sweet and salty snacks. Yuen hosted the bar and made us feel at home, sharing lots of local recommendations and inviting us to help ourselves. We also got our trip’s dirty laundry washed and dried at the complimentary laundry station. The room was clean and spacious, especially for such an affordable price. We’d tried to check in early, but it wasn’t ready, so the staff held our luggage for us. After some questionable stays in Taipei and Tainan, this was a breath of fresh air. My husband and I had an amazing time here while traveling through Taiwan.
