The rooms are tiny and old, like they haven't been renovated in decades. I'm 43, and they feel older than I am. The air conditioning barely worked at all. When I told the front desk lady that barely any air was coming from the vent, she asked if I'd turned it on. I said yes, and she then asked whether I'd left it running while I was out or only switched it on when I got back. I told her it had been on for four hours. Then she asked whether I knew which vent was the air conditioner. Four rooms from my team had the same complaint, too. Those rooms need some basic upgrades. I'm not asking for anything unreasonable.

I stayed two nights last November and ended up enjoying the place enough to stay a second night. It's a little gem: clean, with really nice staff, and though the room wasn't big, it was spacious enough for $33/night. I hadn't booked anywhere before arriving. I was considering another hotel I'd stayed at before, but it had a different name now and cost more. As I walked toward it, I spotted this hotel, set back from the street and easy to miss, and stopped to ask about a room. After looking one over, I decided to try it for a night. The room was clean and the staff were friendly. The air conditioning can’t be adjusted, though, so the first night felt pretty warm. Breakfast didn’t have much variety.

It’s cheap, but the place feels a little old and not especially clean. During one of my stays, I could smell cigarette smoke coming through the air duct. Just an okay place.
