For a bargain, this is an adequate three-star stay, though definitely not a four-star hotel. It’s a no-frills place without a pool, restaurant, or fitness center, but it’s clean, the staff are nice, and the value is good, especially in late December when hotels raise prices. Getting around is fairly easy, with bus lines, the subway, night markets within walking distance, and the pier nearby. I also liked being able to crack the windows open for fresh air. The thermostat took a little figuring out. The bathtub was the biggest problem for me. It sits on a raised platform, so you have to hoist yourself up to get in, and I couldn’t find a way to position the shower head without spraying water all over the floor. I can’t see how someone with movement difficulties could get into it. Toiletries were skimpy too. There wasn’t any hand soap, so when I asked, I got two tiny nuggets of bar soap. I’d still recommend it if you keep expectations modest and want a good value hotel with clean rooms and nice staff.

The lobby snack counter with free snacks was a plus. The hotel itself is quite run down, though. Our room and bathroom were spacious but poorly maintained: the carpet was dusty and stained, and wallpaper was peeling off the wall. The rooms were badly soundproofed and smelled old, maybe even like they used to be smoking rooms.

The room was clean, though it had a slight smoke smell, and the air conditioning worked really well. The price seemed fair, but the view was poor. The hotel advertises free parking and breakfast, which mattered a lot to me. In practice, parking was an eight-minute walk away, and breakfast was just a 100 NTD 7-11 coupon. I also didn't get the welcome drink other guests mentioned.

For the price, it was okay apart from a strong mildew smell in the room. They had complimentary drinks we didn't get a chance to try, plus free snacks in the lobby, which was nice. We booked for two, so getting only one key was odd. To get a second card key, we had to leave a 200 NTD deposit. We got it back, but the whole thing still took away from our impression of the hotel.

We were happy with the welcome snack and complimentary drinks, and our one-night stay was satisfying overall. The switch in room 609 needs attention, though. It was finicky and seemed to fail again even after a temporary fix.
