JÒHŌ HOTEL Kaohsiung

We had a fantastic stay at Joho Hotel Kaohsiung. The staff were friendly and helpful, the room was clean and comfortable, and I liked its modern feel. The location near Kaohsiung station was super convenient, and the complimentary afternoon tea was a nice extra. Highly recommend!

The Executive Lounge was the best part of our stay. It had food and alcoholic drinks, though we couldn’t tell whether every guest could use it or whether it came with the room we booked. The hotel is a three-minute walk from the train station, but the station is huge, so taking the wrong exit can leave you with a long walk. There’s also a night market about five minutes away. We stayed one night in this modern hotel. The reception staff were friendly and spoke English. Our room was lovely, if a little small, while the bathroom was enormous. Breakfast was okay, though pork chops and sea bass may not be everyone’s idea of breakfast. We also had to choose the night before what time we wanted to eat and what we wanted.

The location worked really well for us, with a bike station and the MRT nearby. The staff, from the front desk to housekeeping, were all good, which is rare to find. Breakfast especially exceeded what I expected. For four-star prices, the service felt five-star. Everything here was excellent, and I’d highly recommend staying.

The place was reasonably clean, but the service didn’t feel worthy of a four-star hotel at these prices. They don’t offer help with luggage unless you ask, though I was traveling with my 73-year-old mom and feel they should have offered. Staff seemed scarce. On checkout day I called twice for help with our bags, and they had also kept some of my products and didn’t give them back, so I left without them.
